Hypnosis and Positive Change
What is Hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a state of relaxation, this relaxation allows the
conscious mind to rest and go into a neutral state, by doing so
it allows the subconscious mind to be communicated to directly.
This process is powerful because the subconscious mind creates
instant changes, like a child the subconscious mind will accept
whatever it is told as the truth, within reason ofcourse. And so you can take your goals and aspirations and with the combination of this powerful tool and the power of your mind you can create your desired reality for yourself.

Can anyone be hypnotized?
Hypnosis is a natural state we all go in and out of many times a day, so yes with very few exceptions anyone can be hypnotized.

How long does a session last?
Sessions are one hour in duration, with exception of the quit smoking session which is a one off 2 hour session.

Does a hypnotized person give up control?
You are always in control and can terminate the hypnotic state at any time you wish. At no time in the entire process do you ever give up control.
Your will is your own and anything that goes against that will automatically
be rejected as it naturally would at any other time.

How does hypnosis feel?
Hypnosis can be likened to a relaxed state of mind, peaceful
and rejuvenating. Some people find it easier to relax and go deeper
than others, and these people may almost feel like they are taking
a nice nap. Others will just feel calm and serene.

What makes hypnotherapy different from cognitive therapy?
Hypnotherapy is different because it deals with and
communicates to the subconscious mind, where positive suggestion can be accepted and bring about positive change almost instantly. Cognitive therapy communicates solely with the conscious mind,
which is much harder to work with and has many walls to break down before
some kind of positive breakthrough can occur. This can be very time
consuming and emotionally draining, with hypnotherapy this is not the case.

Is it possible that I could not be brought out of hypnosis?
Absolutely not! This is completely impossible, because hypnosis is just a very relaxed state. You may enter it on a familiar car journey, or watching television, in fact any activity that abosorbs you to the extent that you become less aware of what is going on around you. If anyone was to be left in the hypnotic state, they would simply fall into a nice relaxing sleep, or open their eyes spontaneously.

How effective is hypnosis in weight loss?
Hypnosis alone will not make you lose weight. Although it is VERY effective in helping you to deal with
anxiety and stress that people may "relieve" with a chocolate fix or checking out what's in the fridge. Hypnosis
helps you to improve your self image which is a very powerfull and recognised factor in helping you to control
your weight. Having confidence in yourself and being proud of how you look can considerably change the way
your mind and body operate. When you aren't stressed and are confident in your appearance then the "crutch"
you once needed for those real or percieved inadequacies are no longer needed. In turn you are no longer
eating the things that are not good for you, as well as visualizing that slimmer and more attractive you, which
enables you to reduce your weight and feel good.

May I have a friend or relative present?
It is highly recommended that you come to your consulatation and hypnotherapy sessions alone as it can severely hinder the process if you are with someone no matter if they are friend or family, if so any and all bystanders could be asked to wait outside. You could come as a group of friends for
hypnotherapy, for example if you have three or four other people you know who want to quit smoking then
bring them along. You'll get a discount price if you come as a group too, which saves you some money and
helps more people along the way.

What if it deosn't work?
There can be a variety of different reasons why hypnotherapy isn't working for you.
It's quite possible that there is a part of you that for some reason does not want to change, or
benefits in some way from not changing. You may not realise that in some way that you are actually
resisting hypnotherapy, maybe not consciously, but subconsciously for a reason that you do not know. There are many techniques that we can use to help break that resisitance and find out why you should resist in the first place. You will find though that hypnotherapy is very successfull with a whole
range of problems.

Can it make me do cartwheels or dance around like a chicken?
I added this question as I have been asked it over and over again. So I will clarify that hypnosis cannot whatsoever
make you do anything against your own willpower. If the therapist were to say anything offensive or to suggest that you do something that is in anyway against your moral code you would simply terminate the state spontaneously.
